Shots- tilt shot from the black rider to the hobbits hiding, close-ups face scared nervous the bugs, the 3 close-ups on parts of the rider and the horse to build suspense, low angle, looking up at the rider show the black rider look intimidating, big, frightening

Sound and music

the birds, movement of the riders armour, his breathing, the hooves of the horse, bugs crawling

Lighting

Natural, dim/ darl, makes it feel cold.

Statement 

In the black rider scene close up are used to show fear of the hobbits who are hiding. 

Evidence

The four hobbits are running from the Black Rider they seek refuge in under the roots of an old tree as the rider approaches.  close up show us the expressions on the Hibbits faces.

Audience

This makes the audience feel intimidated and anxious with the hobbits as the unseen enemy approaches.

the previous of this is to build suspense before the rider like the characters we are afraid to even tho we don't know what is coming.

combined with close-ups is the use of diegetic sound including the horse's hooves on the ground, the breathing of the rider and the clicking of his armour as he dismounted. these sounds add to the feeling of fear we have seen through the close-up shots

The short film called hitched is a 2-minute comedic film about a guy who has been set up to pick up a hitchhiker. long shots are used effectively to show the surrounding's of the individuals they are isolated and in the middle of nowhere. close-ups are used to show the characters next intentions and their emotions the girl is down sad as the man is quite happy and excited and shows the differences in the emotions of the characters. much like in the real world people have picked up hitchhikers have had their cars stolen from them.
