Coke and Mentos

Coke and Mentos



Aim: To see if coke explodes when a Mentos lolly is dropped into it using different temperatures and different kinds of coke.

Hypothesis:  I think the Diet coke will be better becaus it has less sugar

We can do better: We need to try several experiements to see which one works best

Equipment:

Ruler
Beaker
Thermometer
Coke Mentos
Measuring flask

Method:

Stage 1: ( All groups)
  1. Add 150ml of coke to a measuring flask
  2. Place the flask in the sink.
  3. Drop in 1 mentos a watch the effect.
Stage 2: 

Group 1
Test 1
  1. Heat up 50ml in a beaker of coke ( Using a thermometer heat it to 75 degrees)
  2. Place the beaker ion the sink and add a mentos.
Test 2
  1. Add 50 ml of cold diet coke to a beaker
  2. Add 5 mentos.
  3. Record the hieght it reachs
Group 2
Test 1
  1. Heat up 50ml in a beaker of coke ( Using a thermometer heat it to 45 degrees)
  2. Place the beaker ion the sink and add a mentos.
Test 2
  1. Add 50 ml of cold diet coke to a beaker
  2. Add 5 mentos.
  3. Record the hieght it reach
Group 3
Test 1
  1. Heat up 50ml in a beaker of coke ( Using a thermometer heat it to 30 degrees)
  2. Place the beaker ion the sink and add a mentos.
Test 2

Group 4
Test 1
  1. Heat up 50ml in a beaker of coke ( Using a thermometer heat it to 15 degrees)
  2. Place the beaker ion the sink and add a mentos.
Test 2
  1. Add 50 ml of cold diet coke to a beaker
  2. Add 5 mentos.
  3. Record the height it reach
Findings:
6 mentors lollies where dropped it a bottle of coke. The height of the fountain of coke measured in centimetres. A mentors was crunched and we we dropped into  the coke. this shows no result.

  1. Does it work better with hot Coke( group) , warm Coke ( group) or cold Coke?( group)

  3. Does crushed Mentos work better than whole Mentos?( group)

  2. Add 5 mentos.
  3. Record the height it reach

The Scientific Method

The Scientific Method 
Aim: To compare the boiling point of the tap water salt water
Hypothesis: Salt water will torn back in to good water

Equipment:

150 MLS of Tap water 
2 Beakers
Bunsen Burner
 Bunsen Burner Tripod
Heat proof mat
Gauze mat
Thermometer

Method:  
1. Collect your equipment.
2. Attach the Bunsen Burner to a gas tap.
3. Fill up both beakers with water.
4. Add salt to one beaker and mix.
5. Place the beaker with tap water on the tripod.
6. Place the Bunsen Burner on the heat mat underneath.
7. Light the Bunsen Burner and adjust the flame to blue.
8. As it heats up place the thermometer in the beaker of water until it is boiling.
9. Record The Temperature on your blog.

10. Repeat the process for salt water.

Findings: Boiling Point

Last term we done market day and we had to make products to sell we done Bath bombs and we made 36$ and it Was great fun and this is our market day plan for the table.

Hands On Fire

Hands On Fire

The purpose of this experiment to learn how to follow instructions and BE SAFE.
DO NOT TRY THIS WITHOUT SUPERVISION OF A TRAINED PROFESSIONAL.

Aim:
I want to safely be able to set myself on fire.

Equipment:
water
soap (detergent)
lighter
safety glasses
lab coat

Method:
1.  Be SAFE.
2.  Wet your hands, wrists and forearms.
3.  Grab a scoop of bubbles.
4.  Hold the bubbles up in front of your face, as far away from you as you can. Lock your elbows.













5.  To get rid of the fire, SLOWLY move your hands a part.











6.  DO NOT DROP YOUR HANDS BELOW YOUR EYE LEVEL because fire goes up and you will set yourself on fire.
