Cath Brown

This week I had been given a bunch on questions about Cath Brown.

Because the article says she was a highly respected maori artist.


3) Where is the marae located? What does the land around it look like?

on the quiet shores of Te Waihora Lake Ellesmere at the southern end of Kaitōrete spit. The background roar of the ocean is ever present as waves break onto the narrow spit that separates Te Waihora from the sea.


4) What does mahinga kai mean? What do you think they ate?

Seafood like fish.


5) What is Ngāti Moki Marae built on?
the Ngāti Moki Marae is on the land of Ngāti Moki and just behind the Ngāti Moki beach


6) What is the Awhitu House?
A timely reminder for all marae The loss of irreplaceable taonga and a whare tawhito (heritage building) is a timely wake up call for all marae.
